Balance

It struck me today that everyone who practices multiple disciplines (usually motherhood, work and some kind of hobby) talks about balance. I don’t work the way they say I’m supposed to. You’re supposed to focus on one thing for a really long time and make it really successful before moving on to something else. But [...]

Worried about Blogging

I’m really worried about taking three months off of blogging/writing while overseas. I guess I will have to write stuff down on paper instead of in the comforting glow of my lappy for that time.
It will be the only time I’m overseas without a lappy though I can tell you that right now.
That is all.

Getting Ready

I’ve only got one more weekend and 11 more week days until I leave for my 6 month training consisting of three months in Monroe, NC and three months overseas working with women, children, refugees, the homeless etc.
During this time I will continue writing but probably not so much published work as I have been [...]

Techie Things I Love About Writing

One of the things I love most about being a writer (besides the writing) is reading about writing (second only to watching movies about writers but that’s a totally different topic). It is through this pursuit that I discovered a neat little blog called Writers in the Virtual Sky. WITVS is run by a writer [...]

Having a Standard Writing Place

A lot of famous writers suggest that they wouldn’t write if they didn’t have a set time and place in which to write everyday. Now I admit that most of the time I like this too but does it make sense? I’m asking this because the second thing they say is that they are writers [...]

On Writing Graphic Novels Writing the Story First

When I was participating in Script Frenzy I joined a group on Zhura for people like me who were participating and asked everyone there didn’t they think writing a graphic novel was easier than writing a film script. One person replied with “No! I’m still stuck on the pictures,” (disclaimer: this may not be verbatum). [...]

Associated Content Badly Formatted Story Update

I got a direct tweet from AC first thing this morning saying that my story I posted a few days ago is now fixed so go read it on Associated Content.
I was so excited and I will definitely be posting more fiction on AC as time goes by. Having it fixed so quickly and efficiently [...]

Writing for Demand Studios and The Internet in General.

I recently tried my hand at writing for another article-based website called Demand Studios. Demand Studios is not like Associated Content or Suite 101 which are both more like magazines with an unlimited number of pages. Instead Demand Studios is a website based on hiring writers to write articles for third party websites while paying [...]

Real-Life Imaginary Friends

I wonder if anyone else does this. It could just be me but I have imaginary friends. Let me rephrase: I am 24 and I have imaginary friends. As if that wasn’t enough I have imaginary friends that happen to be real people–celebrities. It sounds a lot creepier than I expected written out.
I don’t really [...]

On Writing Graphic Novels Pt. 2: Writing Graphic Novel Action Sequences

One surprising thing I have found since starting to write this graphic novel series is that I really like writing action sequences. The reason this is surprising is that when I was writing in other genres (i.e. non-sci-fi) I didn’t think I could write action sequences. I thought they were intimidating and what did I [...]
